About Us
We are based in Cheshire and design and make timber show jumps, working hunter and cross-country fences The business was only set up in 2006 but we have extensive experience in the design and construction of fences, as well as qualified and time served craftsmen.
Here at allwoodjumps we take immense pride and satisfaction in the quality of our products and the materials and techniques we use in them. Delivery We charge £12 per hour of travel time for deliveries, based on a route finder estimation. Alternatively you can pick up from our workshop or even a show we are attending, if transport space allows. What materials do we use? Our jumps are made from fifth grade redwood. It is strong, tough, can be shaped easily and is a natural product from a sustainable source. Wood has proved itself over thousands of years at being hardwearing and resilient to the weather, and it has a beauty that cannot be matched by plastic or steel.
The timber we use can be tanalised; made water and rot proof by impregnating the timber in a high-pressure tank. The wood is slightly rough and natural to the touch, but does not splinter easily. This type of timber is ideal for x-country and some Working Hunter fences, as it looks natural and is fully weatherproof.
For show jumps and working hunter wings we use planed timber. this gives a smooth finish, ideal to take paint or protective stain.
Our poles are turned smooth and tanalise treated, ready to be painted, stained or left neutral. Instead of weakening the wings by drilling holes all the way down the side for the cups, all our wings come with galvanised FEI keyhole cup brackets as standard. Finishes All our show jumps have two coats of primer and undercoat, followed by three coats of exterior high gloss, to give the best protection and deepest colour. The paint creates a waterproof barrier, so as with anything, if it is well looked after it will last for many years. If you do manage to damage something thencontact us and we will advise on the best solution.
The wood stain we use soaks into the wood to provide protection from the elements and comes in a range of colours that allow the natural beauty of the wood to show through. Lifespan The grade of timber, the quality of workmanship and protection by the paints and stains all combine to give a lifetime of use, provided regular maintenance is given. We recommend storing jumps under cover when not in use, on a dry surface so the feet are not immersed in water. To keep the “brand new look”, it is advisable to re-coat every year, especially poles and fillers that get clipped and knocked.
